Local Outreach
outreach & missions

We seek to demonstrate God's love by engaging in actions and movements that bring peace, hope, and justice to the city of Oakland, the East Bay, and our world.

As a church, many of us serve kids, youth, adults, and seniors on our campus on a weekly basis. Besides the volunteering opportunities that are happening weekly on our campus, we are active in serving Oakland and the greater East Bay areas. For more information about local outreach FCC is a part of, send an email to missions@oaklandfcc.org.

Teach ESL and empower new immigrants

Our ESL class is held twice a week, Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, at Laurel Elementary School. We have had the privilege of working with people from Mexico, Yemen, China, and Nigeria. English abilities have varied widely so we have sought to make instruction accessible for very beginners and challenging for more fluent speakers. Through visual aids, practice activities, lots of repetition, and fun we have attempted to share God's love with these English learners by caring for them as they navigate our culture.
For more information, contact Pastor Calvin. No experience is necessary!

Care and serve our homeless friends

As the economy has gotten worse, a lot of non-profits and programs struggle and needed outside support. Our church stepped in to sponsor a meal program at College Avenue Presbyterian Church. Thanks to our volunteers for bringing Christ's love to our neighbors!
