Food Distribution

On November 23rd, City Team will be distributing Thanksgiving Food to families from the FCC parking lot.  They need 15 volunteers from FCC to help with this distribution from 3:00-7:00 pm.  This is a great opportunity to serve this holiday season.

Virtual Touring

When schools closed last year, 100 Harbor House volunteers leaped into action and served as virtual tutors to support our students.  Those efforts reaped huge benefits for our youth and the volunteers.  That's why we're continuing the program this fall, even though schools have re-opened.  Our kids need support to catch up on lost learning.

We are currently recruiting 25 new virtual tutors for this fall.  Would you consider being one of them?  We'll train you and pair you with a student who you'll meet with once a week on Zoom.  In collaboration with classroom teachers and parents, you and your student will prioritize academic areas of focus and create engaging times of learning.

If you have a heart for educational equity and seeing students thrive, we'd love to connect with you! This is a weekly commitment for at least 6 months.

Enrichment Club Leader

Cooking, basketball, art, dance, music, chess, legos, and more - what are your gifts and talents?  Come share them with kids in our after-school program by volunteering as an enrichment club leader.  We are looking for volunteers who can come one afternoon per week for an hour to teach an enrichment club of your choosing.  This is a weekly commitment for at least 4 months.

Come explore a variety of ways you can volunteer at RealOptions. At this informational meeting we answer key questions about who we are, where we are going, why we exist and how you can get involved to help impact women, men, students and families in the Bay Area.

Harbor House is a non-profit, Christian community development organization that serves under-resourced families in Oakland. We seek to provide a safe place for opportunities, resources, and relationships to be shared so that all families in Oakland can flourish.

Harbor House was started in 1972 by Olive Freeman, a fourth grade teacher who was a member of First Covenant Church.  For five decades, Harbor House has served thousands of people with high quality programs that nurture the heart, soul, mind, and body.  Our programs focus on education, leadership development, spiritual formation, and food access.
