Touch

Mark 5:25-34

And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ” But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

From this passage we can learn three important things about this woman:

1) The helpless woman –25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. No matter how she tried to use all her resources to deal with this challenging and cruel disease, she still couldn’t help herself. There is no way out for her. She had not only lost her health and her wealth, but she had also lost her hope. Maybe you are experiencing a similar situation to this woman. You may be going through difficult time in your life. You are probably facing a dead end. You don’t know what to do. You’ve lost your health and your wealth. You’ve tried so hard, but the results are only disappointments. You’ve finally lost hope. Remember, whenever you feel helpless, it’s not the end of the world. It’s just the beginning of your search for something or someone that you can hold on to, like this woman.

2) The hopeful woman – 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” During her helpless situation, she heard about the miraculous healing of the villagers through the power of Jesus the Nazarene. That news sprung hope in her life. It caused her to go and seek after Jesus. She believed if she’s only touch His clothes she will be healed. What a testimony of faith! You see, in the midst of helplessness, hope spring up and shine in the heart of people who desires to move on rather than give up in life. It doesn’t matter what situation you are in, never never never give up hope. Hope is not depend on what you have in life, but it depend on who do you have in your life. Christ Jesus is the hope for humanity, 5 You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Savior,
the hope of all the ends of the earth  and of the farthest seas.
(Psalm 65:5). Remember, as long you live, never never never give up on hope. There is always hope for living, because the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead, He’s alive and He lives, and He lives forever more (1 Peter 1:3). I was there during the Killing fields in Cambodia period of April 17, 195 to January7, 1979 (3 years, 8 months and 20 days). Because the Lord Jesus is my hope, that kept me alive. Thank you Jesus for giving me hope to live on.

3) The healing woman – 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. 30 at once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” 31 “You seethe people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ” 32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” It did not take her long to be healed. The bible says, immediately, in that same moment of her touch and she felt in her body that she was free from her suffering.Friends, we all needs the touch from Jesus, the healing touch. Whatever diseases you have, either physically, spiritually, emotionally. Jesus have to the power to heal you, if you come to Him by faith as the woman did. Jesus is the Great Physician/Healer (Exodus 15:26).
