Psalm 16:1-3

1 Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. 2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.” 3 I say of the holy people who are in the land, “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

Psalm 16:1-3 by Rhonda Ramos

I know that it is hard to be grateful and thankful all the time in this life. I think we like to take credit for our blessings. I know that I do. Although deep down, I know my blessings are from God. This passage reminds me of the parable of the prodigal son, the one who took his inheritance, left, spent it all and came back to be welcomed by the father. I cannot fathom how many times I have been the prodigal daughter. Leaving God in the dust, by trying to accomplish everything on my own strength and coming back when it’s all too much, yet God welcomes me back with open arms. Through this season and life, I hope to be reminded that, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good things.” Psalm 16:2

Christmas Tradition

Advent Calendar by Nina Johnson

I made this Advent Calendar when the kids were little, so this has been our family tradition to kick off the Advent Season for about 20 years.  I saw one like it in the background of a photo in a magazine and thought it looked just great.  I knew I had buttons and some leftover fabric that would work really well.  I had to improvise a bit, but it came out nicely.

The kids pass this first thing in the morning, reach in the days’ pocket and pullout a little ornament which they hang on a button.  The last one is always the star on top….
